Exodus 3: 1-6
Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest
of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to
Horeb, the mountain of God. There the
angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses
saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, “I will go over and see
this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.” When the LORD saw that he
had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”
And Moses said, “Here I am.” “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your
sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” Then he said, “I
am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of
Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.
Message:
God favors those who manifest humility and He communicates to them in
solitude. These, I learned from this part of Exodus. Moses was alone when God
chose to show Himself thru a burning bush. He instructed Moses to remove his
sandals, an act representing meekness to the Israelites. Also, the man’s act of
hiding his face from God is another sign of humility on his part. Moses
manifested the “I’m not worthy of your preferment Lord” behavior.
Application:
I will observe solitude as I communicate with God as it is this state
that will provide me a better perception of His presence and understanding
of His message.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for making me understand more the value of solitude
in my communication with You. Yes Lord I observed that reading the bible and
understanding its meaning are unachievable when I’m in a noisy environment. Praying,
too becomes difficult when done publicly especially with those who do not exhibit
behaviors expected of a believer. Lord, had I been one of those, had I been a “noise”
for some who desired to understand Your word and message Lord, forgive me. Dear
Father, I pray for people's quarrel on Manny Pacquaio's statement about same-sex marriage Lord. Let them/us spend time communicating with You in solitude for us to completely understand Your word God. Forbid us from engaging ourselves in public arguments which will only lead us to worldly opinions, to confusion and eventually to taking an unfavorable side. Bestow upon each one of us the kind of wisdom we need to fully comprehend human rights and above all, Your instructions Lord. This I pray, in Jesus’ name, amen.
