TUMCS

Why do I love TUMCS?

TUMCS is not as big as any other  institution in Rizal, nor as grand as others are when it comes to facilities. It has a small canteen which stands adjacent to its spacious gymnasium,  a science laboratory and a computer room which are both  enough  for a class of only forty students, a  not so book-filled library,a small T.L.E. laboratory and two faculty rooms wherein teachers stay during their free times.
The school doesn’t look good from the outside. It appeared like a condominium to others and an abandoned hospital to some. And to those people who have witnessed its existence in the place since it was founded  they call it “paaralan sa bukid”. Funny as it may sound but this seems to be true considering that next to TUMCS is the ricefield. It is actually the view from its windows.
Despite all these, I chose to stay at TUMCS. Why?
First and foremost, it has an air-conditioned audio-visual room which chills everyone to death during faculty meetings, bible studies, and film viewings.
There is a considerable place at the fifth floor for rehearsals and programs should the gym is not available.
It is in TUMCS where I met students who have tested my patience to the maximum level, who have asked me the most unexpected questions, who have given me the most unbearable headaches, who have brought out my sweetest smiles and above all, have made me laugh till my stomach ached.
Among the private schools in Taytay,it usually ranks number one in tests conducted by the Department of Education and is always included in the top five rank of private schools in the province of Rizal.
Parents of students in this institution are cooperative and supportive to the teachers. They are willing to extend assistance whenever it is needed. Their presence in every activity and situation as well as the  white gifts for the unfortunate ones during Christmas  prove these.
The school serves me a second home not only because I frequently find myself almost sleeping there every time we encode quarterly grades and when the streets are flooded but most of all because I find brothers and sisters there, my fellow faculty members who have been more of siblings to me than fellow workers. Yes, we had experienced bad times as we argued on matters concerning students, issues regarding policies and others. However, after everyone has delivered his piece and hurt another, settling of differences comes next and this exhilarates me more than anything else.
The school has a principal and a guidance counselor who are best of friends and are both very energetic, so generous and so eager to give their time for the benefit of every one, students, parents and teachers alike.  Occasional servings of pancit guisado, fried/steamed sharks fin and pizza and sudden home visits reflect these.
Above all, it has a huge and well-adorned church wherein we hold our regular chapel services and spiritual programs.  It is this sanctuary that lets students and teachers commune with the CREATOR.
Yes, all of these, the facilities, the students, the faculty members, the principal, and the guidance counselor, made me appreciate TUMCS High School Department.  People mentioned caused me discomfort, difficulties and distress. However, these are the same individuals who have taught me lessons in life which have been guiding me as I go through the process of making myself a better person. And what has become of me, I owe to them.
Hence, I love TUMCS.
