Exodus 32: 11-14

Exodus 32: 11-14
11 But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God. “Lord,” he said, “why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? 12 Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people. 13 Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’” 14 Then the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.

Title: When a leader intercedes…

Message: Through the anointed ones, our spiritual leaders, we are spared of the punishment for our sins. The Israelites sinned against God who was about to punish them for the act. However, Moses interceded and God’s anger vanished. Further, I am reminded that leadership entails the greatest of the responsibilities for a leader does not just direct his fellows on what to do, help them grow as much as possible in every aspect of their personalities but above all, negotiates between two opposing parties – the Boss and the subordinates. The hardest point of the situation but considering that the action will lead to the settlement of anger or dispute, the leader has to take the risk and do it anyway for the benefit of everyone.

Promise to Claim: God remains true to His promise – that we will be inheritors of all His vows to Abraham, Isaac and Israel.

Command to Obey: Let us honor God by doing what He always wanted us to do. Make ourselves worship Him only and do what is right. Lead and intercede. Lead for the good of all concerned.

Warning to Heed: Incompetent and ungodly leading brings destruction.

Application: As a leader, I will think of my fellows’ concern, not only of mine. I will take the opportunities to act for the sake of all. Just like Moses I will intercede, should the need arise.
