Exodus 7: 14-25
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is unyielding; he refuses
to let the people go. Go to Pharaoh in the morning as he goes out to the river.
Confront him on the bank of the Nile, and take in your hand the staff that was
changed into a snake. Then say to him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has
sent me to say to you: Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the
wilderness. But until now you have not listened. This is what the LORD says: By
this you will know that I am the LORD: With the staff that is in my hand I will
strike the water of the Nile, and it will be changed into blood. The fish in
the Nile will die, and the river will stink; the Egyptians will not be able to
drink its water.’ ” The LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and
stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over the streams and canals,
over the ponds and all the reservoirs—and they will turn to blood.’ Blood will
be everywhere in Egypt, even in vessels of wood and stone.” Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had
commanded. He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and
struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood. The
fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could
not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt. But the Egyptian magicians did the same
things by their secret arts, and Pharaoh’s heart became hard; he would not
listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said. Instead, he turned and
went into his palace, and did not take even this to heart. And all the
Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water, because they could not
drink the water of the river. Seven days passed after the LORD struck the Nile.
Message:
Here, I learned that the more an unbeliever is tested, the more that he
resists and God basically tests a person through things which are most basic or
which most dear to him for the individual to feel the need to respond to His
call. Water was a resource considered to be very significant not only to the
Egyptians but to all and it was coming from the river which was the source of
life to the whole of Egypt - Nile. God’s might turned its water into blood and people
including Pharaoh could no longer benefit from it. This event caused plague to
all Egyptians and was supposed to soften Pharaoh’s heart; however, he remained
unmoved. Hence, the sufferings of the Egyptians intensified. Through these
verses, I am made to understand the reason behind my first son’s death and
those events in my life when the things which I prioritized over God vanished
from my sight and my system.
Application:
I’ll prioritize reading the bible and activities concerning God.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, first and foremost, I thank you for all the provisions in all
aspects. My yesterday’s birthday was the happiest Lord as I have my family
members and friends complete and all of them are in good health. Thank you very
much Lord for letting me have them, for making me experience the ups and downs
of life with them. Lord, You have blessed me more than I’ve expected. Father,
yes the more that I am encouraged now to pursue the spiritual activity that I’ve
started. Thus, Father bless me and guide me. I also pray Lord for my friends,
Aileen, Rizza, Oliver, Melissa and Jillian. Lord I know that You have been
guiding them, each one of us Lord as we decide on job matters, as we make our
choices Lord. You are our priority Lord and we know that You will guide us all
through the process. Just like the Israelites, You will bring us to where You
want us to be. This is my prayer, in Jesus’ name, amen.
