Exodus 4: 10-17
Moses said to the LORD, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been
eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am
slow of speech and tongue.” The LORD said to him, “Who gave human beings their
mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind?
Is it not I, the LORD? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to
say.” But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.” Then
the LORD’s anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother,
Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet
you, and he will be glad to see you. You shall speak to him and put words in
his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. He will
speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if
you were God to him. But take this staff in your hand so you can perform the
signs with it.”
Message:
Here, I am made aware that God really works in and for people whom He has
commissioned to finish a task. Also, I am reminded of those instances when I
had the opportunities to share the word of God yet I did not only because I
doubted my capability and was assuming negative reactions from the people.
Moses lacked eloquence and had readily experienced rejection when he attempted
to settle an argument between two people, thus making him object to God’s
appointment. However, God insisted and let Aaron be the spokesperson of his
brother Moses. God allowed Moses to perform wonderful acts thru his staff for
him to convince Pharaoh and others that it’s really God who sent him.
Application:
Sharing God’s word and making people accept my spiritual beliefs are
difficult but knowing that God delights in those acts, I will go on. He did
provide Moses help and protection, so I believe he’ll do the same for me.
Prayer:
Father God, thank you for the motivation. Thank you Lord for making me
realize that serving You does not require world-based qualifications but
instead Your very personal selection Lord. Father, I may not be one of those
whom You have chosen to accomplish a heavenly task Lord, to do something that
requires eloquence and a considerable amount of intelligence God. However, I
express my willingness to serve You Father.
Allow me to delve into the bible and attain further understanding of You
Lord that I may be able to deliver Your message the way You want people to understand
it. This is my prayer, in Jesus’ name, amen.
